How is commercial auto different from a personal auto policy used "for business"?

Personal auto policies generally exclude any use that could be characterized as business — deliveries, ride-share, transporting clients/patients, hauling tools or inventory. The exclusions vary by carrier but the failure mode is consistent: a personal-policy claim arising from business use gets denied, leaving the driver and the business personally exposed. Commercial auto is built for business use. The line between "I drove to a meeting once" (probably fine on personal) and "I drive between offices three times a week" (almost certainly excluded) is murkier than people realize, and we err on the side of placing commercial coverage when business use is regular.
