How is GL different from professional liability insurance?

GL covers you when something you do physically harms a third party — a fall in your office, a damaged piece of equipment, a defamatory blog post. Professional liability (also called E&O, or malpractice in clinical contexts) covers you when something you advised, designed, or treated causes a financial or bodily harm — a misdiagnosis, a flawed audit, a missed deadline that costs the client a deal. Most healthcare and professional-services businesses need both. They cover entirely different theories of liability and don't overlap.
