How much general liability coverage do I need?

The market default for small and mid-sized businesses is $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate. That means the carrier will pay up to $1M for any single claim and up to $2M total for all claims during the policy year. Whether that's enough depends on your foot traffic, the severity of injuries you could plausibly cause, and the limits your contracts demand. Healthcare practices, professional services firms with high client traffic, and businesses operating in NYC commonly carry $2M/$4M or higher, then layer commercial umbrella coverage on top to reach $5M–$10M total. We'll size limits against your actual contractual requirements and exposure rather than defaulting to the cheapest option.
