My e-mod went up. Can I do anything about it?

Yes — and you should. The e-mod is calculated by the rating bureau (NYCIRB in NY) using prior years' losses. We pull your loss runs, check the bureau's calculation for errors (it's surprisingly common to find them), and analyze whether reserves on open claims are inflated relative to the actual exposure. Reserve disputes are the single highest-leverage move on a stale e-mod — pushing the carrier to right-size open reserves can drop your e-mod the next time it's calculated. Beyond that: aggressive return-to-work programs, safety improvements, and claim-coordination with a managed-care vendor all show up in the loss numbers over 3 years.
