We just had a #MeToo-style complaint. What's the playbook?

Three immediate moves. (1) Notify the EPLI carrier — most modern policies have a 24/7 sexual harassment response hotline that engages a coach and breach counsel before formal complaints land. (2) Investigate properly — most NY claims hinge on whether the employer had a credible investigation process and acted on findings. Outside investigators are often the right call for senior-employee complaints to insulate the investigation from retaliation claims. (3) Don't retaliate — interim measures (paid leave for the accused during investigation, separation of work assignments) need to be carefully structured to avoid creating retaliation exposure of their own. NY law's lower hostile work environment threshold ("petty slights and trivial inconveniences" floor) means workplace conduct that wouldn't survive federal Title VII pleading can survive state and city pleading.
